Bidder 70

See the Polaris Music Prize gala live from Toronto on the Cult MTL website, complete with awkward co-host banter (Kathleen Edwards & Shad!) and live performances by most of the bands vying for the best-album prize, among them Montrealers godspeed you! black emperor, Colin Stetson, Young Galaxy and Purity Ring. 7 p.m.

Among the many activities happening during QPIRG Concordia’s Disorientation week is a Cinema Politica screening of Bidder 70, an award-magnet of a documentary about how a Utah student’s act of civil disobedience had a major impact on the state’s oil and gas industry. 1455 de Maisonneuve W., 7 p.m.

The PHI Centre screen Prince Avalanche, an offbeat comedy about two men painting traffic lines on a desolate country highway. 407 St-Pierre, 7:30 p.m., $11.25

Actress Alison Louder performs a staged reading of her revised script Hot Pink, followed by some Q&A. Mainline Theatre (3997 St-Laurent), 8 p.m., $10/PWYC

Steps presents a poetry reading featuring Soren Stockman and Julie Mannell (read Cult MTL’s interview with Mannell here). Kafein (1429A Bishop), 8:30 p.m., free
