Ryuzanji in Hanafuda Denki (The Dance of the Dead)

Read the Rant Line™!

The PHI Centre screen Paolo Sorrentino’s Il Divo, followed by his latest, the Golden Globe-winning, Oscar-nominated The Great Beauty. Both films follow calm, crafty and inscrutable tastemakers in Rome. 407 St-Pierre, 5 p.m. (Il Divo) & 7:30 p.m. (The Great Beauty), $6.25 & $11.25

It’s oyster night at Nouveau Palais! 281 Bernard W., 6–11 p.m.

Just around the corner at Barcola, a new restaurant on Parc that we reviewed earlier this week, the weekly Aperitivo event proposes cicchetti, prosecco and cocktails. 5607 Parc, 6–11 p.m.

Catch Japan’s visiting Ryuzanji company in Hanafuda Denki (The Dance of the Dead), a mash-up of manga, goth pop and kabuki theatre. Bain St-Michel (5300 St-Dominique), 8 p.m., $20–$25

Local fan fave DeAnne Smith headlines a strong night of stand-up, with support from Mike Paterson, Darren Henwood and Scott Andrew Carter. The Comedy Nest (AMC Forum, 2313 Ste-Catherine W., 3rd floor), 8 p.m., $6–$12

British indie rockers Yuck bring their ’90s Americana to Il Motore with openers Alvvays. 179 Jean-Talon W., 9 p.m., $15
