Eastern Bloc’s Sight & Sound Festival has a big day planned with a series of conferences on various aspects of the sharing/gig economy, a participatory carbon-dioxide detecting intervention at Outremont’s le Virage site, and finishing up with a pair of interactive performances plus DJ sets from RAMZi and Big Bird. 7240 Clark, 10:30 a.m.–11 p.m., $12–$15 for evening program

In conjunction with les Journées de la Culture, the Goethe Institut hosts a conference on the thriving Munich underground music scene with members of German disco-punk outfit Pollyester, followed by a performance by the band. 1626 St-Laurent, 6 p.m., free

Parc Ex art space le Corrid’Art/the Long Haul Studios hosts a fundraising exhibition called The N Show as part of their 15th anniversary celebrations, featuring 25 works of art with titles starting with the letter N. Sized and priced to take home, the vernissage will also feature a raffle with some big prizes to be won. 450 Beaumont, 6:30 p.m. til late, free entry

Spike Lee is in town tonight to present and talk about his new documentary Michael Jackson’s Journey From Motown to Off the Wall at the Montreal International Black Film Festival. 1455 de Maisonneuve W. H-110, 7:30 p.m., $35/$45

Ottawa-based band the Souljazz Orchestra touch down at Plateau dance bar Groove Nation for a high-energy performance of Afro- and Latin-flavoured funk, soul, jazz, disco and boogie. 410 Rachel E., 9 p.m., $15

Late-night party alert: The Upside Down is happening somewhere in Mile End (location to be announced 24 hours in advance) with music by Ezrakh, Kris Guilty, BBDJZ, Tiestosterone and Rosewater CTZ. 11:59 p.m., $10 before 3 a.m.
