In conjunction with les Journées de la Culture, the Goethe Institut hosts a conference on the thriving Munich underground music scene with members of German disco-punk outfit Pollyester, followed by a performance by the band. 1626 St-Laurent, 6 p.m., free

Parc Ex art space le Corrid’Art/the Long Haul Studios hosts a fundraising exhibition called The N Show as part of their 15th anniversary celebrations, featuring 25 works of art with titles starting with the letter N. Spike Lee is in town tonight to present and talk about his new documentary Michael Jackson’s Journey From Motown to Off the Wall at the Montreal International Black Film Festival. 1455 de Maisonneuve W. H-110, 7:30 p.m., $35/$45

Ottawa-based band the Souljazz Orchestra touch down at Plateau dance bar Groove Nation for a high-energy performance of Afro- and Latin-flavoured funk, soul, jazz, disco and boogie. 410 Rachel E., 9 p.m., $15
