Plaza-St-Hubert-Atmosphair
Atmosph’Air sur la Plaza

A little out of town, two music festivals begin today and run through Sunday: ShazamFest (in Barnston West), which has music but also burlesque, wrestling, skateboarding, food and more, and the Diapason Festival of independent music (Ste-Rose, Laval).

The annual St-Hubert Plaza sidewalk sale, Atmosph’Air sur la Plaza, runs through to Sunday with sales, concerts, an outdoor bar and more. Take note, the Beaubien metro station is closed this summer so you’ll have to bike, bus or walk. St-Hubert between Bellechasse & Jean-Talon, and Bélanger between Châteaubriand & St-André, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

Fresh Paint Gallery hosts a vernissage for a new group show of photography by Carlos Guerra, Mad4Twenty, Kate Mada and Neil Mota. 256 Ste-Catherine E., 5–10:30 p.m., free

Dark burlesque show Something Wicked This Way Comes begins a six-show run at the Wiggle Room as part of Just for Laughs’ Zoofest programming. Nine performers including Lou Lou la Duchesse de Rière and Stitch the Geek are described as “curious specimens and oddities… baffling beauties (bringing) extraordinary enticement.” 3874 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $24.15

Downtown at Newspeak, British duo Bok Bok headline a fine roster of turntable talent, with L-Vis 1990, Young Luxenburg, Ponsolo and Ledisko. 1403 Ste-Elisabeth, 10 p.m., $5 before midnight/$10

Party different at Datcha, with BadBadWitch and DJs Boyzclub, Softcoresoft and Gayance. 98 Laurier W., 11 p.m., free
