#ShutDownCanada is a little like Buy Nothing Day, but those who support Solidarity With Land Defenders might also not work, go to school or travel on this Friday the 13th, as well as join blockades of highways, bridges, rail lines and ports.

Flamboyant art star the Marchesa Luisa Casati (1888–1957) serves as the inspiration for artist Steben Alexander’s photographs and short film that make up the exhibition Ma muse, m’amuse. The show opens tonight at Galerie D with performances, snacks and absinthe. 1200 Amherst #102, 510 p.m., free

The FRO Festival wraps up tonight with a visit from poet, musician and activist Akua Naru, plus performances by local favourites like Queen Ziyah, Newdayz, Imablackgirl and Veeby, with live-painting from Monk.E. La Grande Bibliothèque (475 de Maisonneuve E.), 8 p.m., $12

The Nisei and the Narnauks is a puppet show written and directed by Paul Van Dyck, recounting a meeting between a Japanese-Canadian girl interned during WWII and a narnauk, a mystical figure of First Nations lore. MAI (3680 Jeanne-Mance), 8 p.m., $20/$25

Passovah Productions presents a syrupy sweet triple bill of local art rock/indie-whatever bands: Thus Owls, Last Ex and Special Noise. 179 Jean-Talon W., 8:30 p.m., $12

Over at Sala, rising star of electro-soul APigeon plays alongside Poirier, Ruined Sundays, L.A. Foster and the Shah, with a dance performance by Sabine Lawless. 4848 St-Laurent, 10:10 p.m.
