Montreal Sound Ark descends on Le Cagibi for an all vintage vinyl DJ session and fundraiser for CKUT. 5490 St-Laurent, 3–5 p.m., free

Nouveau Palais‘ annual Oyster Harvest Party brings expert culler & shucker Robert Pendergast back to the joint with fresh catch from PEI. Sweet T DJs. 281 Bernard W., 6 p.m.

The PHI Centre screens Hungarian film Silent Ones, about a sister’s search for her lost brother, which brings her to the edge of life and death. 407 St-Pierre, 7:30 p.m., $11.25

What’s a Decentralized Dance Party? According to organizers (“two gentlemen from The Future”), it’s “a portable, battery-powered Party System [consisting] of hundreds of Party people carrying boomboxes and a DJ who wears a backpack containing an FM radio transmitter.” They’ll  be taking the (mostly outdoor) party around town starting from the southwest sidewalk outside Place des Arts. Details here. 8 p.m., free, watch for bananas

It’s the last day to catch bizarre art and theatre at Phenomena Festival. They close out with a full day of dance, theatre and performance art, and the fest ends with Alexis O’Hara alter-ego Guizo La Nuit Dada Cabaret. Bain St-Michel (3500 St-Dominique), 8:30 p.m., $12

An epic bass battle is happening at Cabaret Underworld, where A Tribe Called Red’s Bear Witness will confront Montreal’s own Moss Man, with openers Aaron Maiden and Cristobal Urbina. 1403 Ste-Elisabeth, 9:30 p.m., $7

Concordia radio station CJLO (1690AM) celebrates its fifth anniversary with one hell of a mixed bag of live music: local indie pop act Wintersleep, Toronto post-hardcore bros Fucked Up and local rapper Cadence Weapon. SAT (1201 St-Laurent), 10 p.m., $7.50

The first of this weekend’s Halloween parties features some serious talent. Yup, it’s Kill Halloween! feat. Boys Noize, Oliver, Tommy Kruise and High Klassified. Olympia (1004 Ste-Catherine E.), 10 p.m., $45/$60

Walter J. Lyng hosts late-night variety show Night Fight— Episode Two: Halloween Havoc, featuring a pumpkin carving competition with a celebrity panel of judges and musical guests Bones Malones. MainLine Theatre (3997 St-Laurent), 10:30 p.m., $8
