Arcade Fire vs. NBC

Arcade Fire perform tonight on Saturday Night Live, followed by a half-hour NBC special (at 2 a.m.) that will almost certainly feature footage from their series of Salsathèque shows in Montreal earlier this month. This trailer (featuring the downtown club’s glitzy interior signage) pretty much gives it away. Tune in, or stay out all night at Pop Montreal and get your parents to PVR that shit.

Jonny Pierce, “Home”

Only God knows what happened to Jonny Pierce’s solo record, announced for a winter release early this year. But here’s another tune from the Drums singer, to appear on the Kitsuné Maison Compilation 15, out on Oct. 15.

Chevalier Avant Garde, “Nowhere”

Melancholy electro-pop duo Chevalier Avant Garde launch their new record Resurrection Machine  at a Fixture Records showcase for Pop Montreal tonight (Brasserie Beaubien, 73 Beaubien E., 9 p.m., $10). Sample their sound here:

Jef Barbara, “I Know I’m Late”

Local electro-pop lizard-prince Jef Barbara has a new record coming our way via Club Roll Records. Soft to the Touch is out next Tuesday, Sept. 30. Here’s a track:

Young Galaxy, “Sleepwalk With Me”

You may have seen Montreal’s Young Galaxy performing at last Monday’s Polaris Music Prize gala. From their shortlisted record Ultramarine, “Sleepwalk With Me” gets some delightful animated visual accompaniment care of director Fabricio Lima.
