Carla Blumenkranz, Dayna Tortorici and Elizabeth Gumport, the New Yorkers behind the amazing n+1 politics, literary and culture magazine, are in town to present a panel discussion about their magazine, print media and women in publishing. Librairie Drawn & Quarterly (211 Bernard W.), 7 p.m., free

Award-winning American poet, critic and editor Juliana Spahr reads in Montreal today, as part of Concordia University’s curated Writers Read series. Hall Building, (1455 de Maisonneuve W.), 7th floor, room H-767, 7 p.m., free

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds play Metropolis with Sharon Van Etten. And that’s all you need to know, other than the fact that it’s sold out, so good luck finding a scalper. 59 Ste-Catherine E., 8 p.m., $49.20

It’s Beats, Blunts and Broads tonight with local rap duo Heart Streets, who launch their EP of that title with the help of Quills, Gabe Nandez, City Fidelia and DJs Montrilla, Buck Smith and Alex HQ. Cabaret du Mile End (5240 Parc), 10 p.m., $10 in advance, $12 at the door

Making a Name, local filmmaker Patrick O’Connor’s chronicle of the city’s graffiti scene (which we wrote about in our March print edition), premieres as part of the FIFA fest. The afterparty happens, well, afterward, at Blue Dog Motel. Place des Arts (175 Ste-Catherine W., Cinquième Salle), 6:30 p.m., $12/Blue Dog Motel (3958 St-Laurent), 8:30 p.m., free

Austra spin-off and neo-goth party band Trust play SAT along with Brooklyn’s Eraas. Also on the itinerary is a Jealous Lovers DJ set. 1201 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $20
