Nothing Never Happens in Norway at the Centaur tonight

Read the Rant Line!

It’s day two of Founderie’s Beat the Clock sale, where every passing day you get a shrinking (but still solid) discount on store items. Today, everything’s on for 40 per cent off, tomorrow 30 per cent, and so on. Founderie (6596 St-Laurent), 11 a.m.–6 p.m.

Check out new woodcuts, paintings and art cards by Sylvie and Devo, two Vancouver artists putting on a show in NDG. There’s no formal vernissage, but if you’re in the west end you’re invited to drop by, see some new and old works and drink a tallboy in the alley with other showgoers. Shäika (5526 Sherbrooke W.), free

There’s a vernissage for Éthylisme, a group exhibit featuring over 30 artists and their trippy, surrealist and hallucinogenic work. Usine 106-U (160 Roy E.), 5 –11 p.m., free

Tonight is the inaugural edition of Switched Off Sound, a bi-weekly meeting place for sound artists, experimenters and synaesthetic explorers. This round features work by Johnny Deck, Dersha Hewitt, Julie Matson, Beth Lamb and many, many more. Rats9 (Belgo Building, 372 Ste-Catherine W., #530), 7 p.m., $2/PWYC

The NOAH, a weekly film screening series carrying the torch of the late, lamented Blue Sunshine, screens 1978 Italian cult psych-horror flick Stridulum (The Visitor). Peut-Être Vintage, 6029a Parc, 8 p.m., $5, BYOB

Nothing Never Happens in Norway, a 2012 Fringe musical remount of Ibsen’s Rosmersholm and the Master Builder, is opening a week’s worth of shows as part of the Wildside Fest tonight. Save a few bucks by reserving via phone and skipping online processing fees. Centaur Theatre (453 St-Francois-Xavier), 9 p.m., $15

Going stir-crazy? Shake it off at On the Rocks, featuring resident DJ Pat Dynamite plus guests Jordan Dare and Cherry Cola. Salon Officiel (351 Roy E.), 10:30 p.m., free
