The Colour of Pomegranates

Sergei Parajanov’s 1969 poetic masterpiece The Colour of Pomegranates screens for free as part of a month-long retrospective. Also on the program are Kiev Frescoes, a 1968 Parajanov short, and a lecture on the “Politics of Beauty” from Concordia’s Jake Moore.  For a look at the whole program retrospective schedule, read our interview with programmer Marcin Wisniewski here. Toronto promoters Silent Shout come to town to mount a show on the lower Main, feat. How Sad (formerly Goose Hut), Digits, Miss Elizabeth, Marble Lion and Tess Roby, with DJs Hollie Hensman and APR 2600. 1601 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $5

If you’re in need of a (indoor) dancefloor, it’s piu piu time at le Belmont with Seattle DJ Sango and locals Kaytranada, Phil Sparkz, Secret Guest and Charles Cozy. 4483 St-Laurent, 10 p.m., $5 before 11 p.m./$10

Further uptown, DJs the Salivation Army and Poirier promise No Vacancy on the floor at Royal Phoenix, where they’ll be dropping their monthly dose of digital dancehall, crazy azonto, groovy soca, heavy reggae and Afropop. 5788 St-Laurent, 10 p.m., $5
