On the Walls: The Week in Fine Arts

Your weekly round-up of what’s on in arts this week: new exhibit at the CCA, collecting advice from Paryse Taillefer, a year of art by Etienne Doucet, Fabrizio Perozzi and works by three women.

The CCA is ushering in a new exhibit this evening called ABC:MTL, a show as diffuse, diverse and collaged together as the city itself. An ongoing series of talks, exhibits and cultural events, the series is intended to be open-ended, expansive and community-driven, with new events, exhibit elements unveiled continuously throughout the next several months to continuously forge new connections to produce new events and expand the exhibit’s purview and audiences’ perspectives on local life. Vernissage tonight, Tuesday Nov. 12, CCA (1920 Baile), 6:30-11:00 p.m., featuring music from Foxtrott and DJ Psychébélique

Paryse Taillefer will be speaking at the Visual Voice Gallery to offer up information about the practises of buying, selling and collecting art. Taillefer herself is an experienced art collector, with a large personal collection of works by various Quebecois artists. Nov. 13, Visual Voice Gallery (Belgo Building, 372 Ste-Catherine W., #421), 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., $20

The annual Concordia MFA Art Auction takes place this week. The event is hosted by the Studio Arts students and all of the proceeds benefit the MFA end of year exhibition. Nov. 14, VAV Gallery (VA Building, 1395 René-Lévesque W), doors at 6 p.m., bidding starts at 6:30 p.m., free admission.

365 Jours d’Arts Quotidiens at Galerie Crystal Racine is an exhibition by Etienne Doucet, featuring important pieces from his project “A4A Daily : 365 Jours,” in which a new artwork was showcased everyday over the course of a year on the artist’s blog. Vernisssage Nov. 17, Galerie Crystal Racine (1701 Gilford), 5 p.m.
