So, it’s official — Quebecers are in for a month of preening, posturing and picking on rival provincial parties. Jean Charest called an election around noon today, announcing what nearly every Quebecer who is living and breathing already knew.

Both Monique Muise from the Montreal Gazette and former Mirror news editor Patrick Lejtenyi do round-ups on what are sure to be among the most hard-fought ridings, particularly with relation to the student strike movement. The Globe and Mail focuses on the offensive strategies Parti Québecois leader Pauline Marois is planning to adopt to battle her political foes. CJAD radio host and National Post contributor Dan Delmar weighs in on, among other things, how Charest supporters will have to look the other way if they want reprieve from the S-word and the other S-word.
