Book Launch: Dark Chapters

Book Launch: Dark Chapters

Saturday, May 10 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Join us for a book talk with Governor General’s Award-winning Métis artist David Garneau, whose book Dark Chapters: Reading The Still Lives of David Garneau brings together responses from some of Canada’s foremost thinkers and artists to Garneau’s still life paintings.

David Garneau will be appearing at Art Mûr on Saturday May 10th at 2pm. He will be in conversation with  Hannah Claus multidisciplinary visual artist of English and Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) ancestries who is a member of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte First Nation. Just as the paintings in the book are a spark for reflections on art and decolonization, this conversation will highlight how Indigenous artists have conversations about legacy and contemporary indigenous experiences and sensibilities through and in art.

After the book talk ends please stay to view David Garneau’s still life paintings from the Dark Chapters series on display in the gallery! The event is free and open to the public. Books will be available for sale by Art Mûr. Don’t miss out on what promises to be a lively discussion!
