Shake up your Monday with a pair of free lunchtime and evening dance parties at Jardins Gamelin, beginning with Rise Beat, a noon hour party with DJ Dee El Lobo, and later on, Cat’s Corner hosts a night of old school swing dancing that begins with a free lesson for beginners. Corner Ste-Catherine & Berri, 12–1 p.m. and 7–11 p.m., free

On the other side of town, check out a free outdoor concert by Gypsy Kumbia Orchestra in Outremont’s Beaubien Park, brought to you by Concerts Campbell. St-Viateur & Stuart, 7 p.m., free

Maison Sociale is screening two quality, wintry Swedish films on a scorching summer night: the Kubrickian Force Majeure (which was nominated for a Golden Globe this year) and the original version of contemporary horror classic Let the Right One In (2008). 5386 St-Laurent, 7–11 p.m., free entry & popcorn

Tonight’s edition of Notre Dame de Bingo, hosted by Julie Paquet at NDQ, doubles as a fundraiser for the Montreal Roller Derby. On top of helping the New Skids on the Block get to the playoffs, you’ll also have the chance to win tattoos, piercings, roller derby merch and gift certificates from Cagibi. 32 Beaubien E., 7:30 p.m., free entry, $1 per Bingo card or 4 for $3

British neo-folk chanteuse Laura Marling is touring her latest, fifth record Short Movie, and tonight she lands at Café Campus with openers Johnny Flynn and Marika Hackman. 57 Prince-Arthur E., 8 p.m., $26
