Hip Hop Week Montreal continues with an afternoon talk and nighttime show with openers Freddie Joachim, Illa J and Bambu by NYC rapper Jean Grae. Talk at 1455 de Maisonneuve W., 6:30, $10.30, show at le Belmont, 10 p.m., $30

Cool Fest, a two-day show series organized around the new moon, solar eclipse and vernal equinox, presents a fistful of fine bands: Edmonton/Montreal act Brazilian Money, Brooklyn acts Computer Syndrome and Mysterious House, Ottawa’s Bonnie Doon and local the Powers, Tobias Rochman and Porn Persons. La Plante, 8 p.m., $10

Radical Queer Semaine presents Queer Ass Punk, “a sordid night of queer rock,” feat. live music by Cheap Wig, Nao Nao, Oops, Moss Lime and DJ Velvet Underpants. Cabaret Playhouse (5656 Parc), 9:30 p.m., $10 suggested donation

The steampunk edition of Speakeasy Electro Swing promised a wide variety of entertainment: music by German gypsy/swing-house artist Mano Meter, Speakeasy residents Khalil and DJ Don Mescal and clarinetist Jean-Sébastien Leblanc, burlesque by Lady Josephine and circus performance by CirQus. The event opens with a dance lesson to get you into the swing of things, and the dress code is dress-to-impress (à la steampunk if possible). Cabaret Lion d’Or (1676 Ontario E.), 9:30 p.m., $15
