City of Montreal marks Tartan Day, honours city’s Scottish heritage

“The city’s heritage is manifested in this Scottish tartan, which represents the founding people of Montreal.”

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante shared a photo of the city’s official tartan today to mark Tartan Day, an annual observance established in Nova Scotia in 1987. As Plante explained, the tartan in the photo was a gift from St. Andrews Society of Montreal, a local Scottish cultural organization.

“Did you know that the City of Montreal had its own tartan? The city’s heritage is manifested in this Scottish tartan, which represents the founding people of Montreal.”
