International Migrants Day: “Montreal continues to be a welcoming city”

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante has issued a statement marking International Migrants Day, a day designated by the United Nations to highlight the contributions of the over 281 million migrants around the world and raise awareness of the challenges they face.

Plante emphasized Montreal’s commitment to promoting safe migration, and maintaining the city as a welcoming destination for migrants.

“On this International Migrants Day, let us remember that Montreal has been — and continues to be — a land that welcomes many communities. Let us celebrate the resulting diversity, and reiterate our commitment to promoting safe migration.”
