COP15: “The crucial days of negotiations are underway”

The City of Montreal is encouraging leaders to sign the agreement at the biodiversity conference, which wraps up on Monday.

On this penultimate day of the COP15 biodiversity conference in Montreal, Mayor Valérie Plante has put out a statement encouraging countries to sign the event’s agreement.

The freshly drafted agreement is known as the post-2020 global biodiversity framework.

“The crucial days of negotiations are underway. I invite countries to demonstrate ambition, solidarity and build a solid partnership with cities. Today, let’s choose to be consistent. Let’s choose the only way possible!”

Following the release of the final agreement document this morning, a meeting is being held this afternoon — following the World Cup final.

The COP15 biodiversity conference in Montreal wraps up on Monday, Dec. 19.
