Baby Keem, The Melodic Blue: REVIEW

“As the first signee to his cousin Kendrick Lamar’s new record label, Baby Keem ushers in a bold new era of West Coast hip hop with his debut album.”

Baby Keem, The Melodic Blue (pgLang)

Baby Keem’s debut album is a family affair. As the first signee to his cousin Kendrick Lamar’s new record label, pgLang, Baby Keem ushers in a bold new era of West Coast hip hop with The Melodic Blue. The Nevada-born rapper shares his cousin’s creative sensibility through Playboi Carti-like mumble flows. Lamar, who appears on three standout tracks, is having the time of his life alongside his family member. His protégé may not have the same sharp lyrical tongue as his cousin but Keem is setting himself up for years of success to come. 8/10 Trial Track: “Range Brothers”
