Over the course of his continuing career, Daniel Negreanu has so far managed to collect over $32 million in winnings and prizes.

Michael McDonald

Another reputed Canadian professional poker player, Michael McDonald was born in Waterloo, Ontario in 1987, and is a world-famous gambler. McDonald rose to fame after becoming the youngest player to win an event at the European Poker Tour. From 2018, his total winnings from both online and in-person tournaments exceeded $13 million.

He found some initial success in online poker tournaments before he started attending in-person tournaments that usually house much larger potential winnings, stakes, and prizes. Michael McDonald continues to play poker and win online through top-quality live sites, and it is estimated by some that his total online earnings are in excess of $3 million.

Jonathan Duhamel

Jonathan Duhamel, born in Boucherville, Quebec in 1987, is yet another world-famous Canadian gambler who chooses to focus his skills in online and in-person poker tournaments. Much like Daniel Negreanu, Jonathan McDonald has managed to build up a decent reputation and follower base as a popular poker player and also has a number of different accolades to his name collated over his years of play.

Duhamel holds three World Series of Poker bracelets and managed to cement his name in the community through his outright win at the 2010 WSOP. With his main efforts being focused on the World Series of Poker tournaments, Duhamel also has around 26 money finishes at the event. In 2018, Duhamel walked away from the 49th World Series of Poker held in Las Vegas, Nevada, with over $70,000 in winnings accumulated from a series of different events held over a short period of time. Earlier in 2017, Duhamel won the World Poker Tour held in Montreal at No Limit Hold’em, taking over $102,000 in winnings. Currently, in 2021, it is estimated that Jonathan Duhamel has total tournament winnings exceeding $18 million.  

Guy Laliberté

Guy Laliberté is far more than just a world-famous Canadian gambler, he is also an extremely successful businessman as the co-founder of Cirque du Soleil which has earned him the vast majority of his wealth, making him a billionaire.

One of the reasons why his poker career has often caught a lot of attention is that, because of his vast accumulation of wealth made predominantly through his business ventures, Guy Laliberté tends to donate most of his poker winnings to charitable organisations. Given his vast amounts of wealth, he has also established himself as a bit of a high-roller as he has taken part in a number of high stakes poker tournaments, some also being for charitable causes where some of the prize money is donated.

Guy Laliberté is also world-famous for bringing together certain high-stakes tournaments, such as the 2011 tournament which required players to place a $1 million buy-in, with the grand prize being well over $18 million. This tournament also managed to raise over $5 million for Laliberté’s own charitable organisation the One Drop Foundation. Guy Laliberté is also famed for being the first private Canadian citizen to head into outer-space in 2009, giving him an even greater presence and world reputation.
