Quebec karaoke

BREAKING: Karaoke is officially cancelled across Quebec

“The perfect environment for spreading COVID-19.”

Karaoke activities held in public places, including bars, rented rooms and community rooms, are now officially banned according to Quebec Health Minister Christian Dubé. This comes following an outbreak that started at a karaoke bar in Quebec City last week, which has since infected 68 people, with 18 secondary cases in the community, including four schools.

The province’s public health director Horacio Arruda had previously said that the droplets from singing, sharing microphones and drinking alcohol makes karaoke a perfect environment for spreading COVID-19.

Though the karaoke ban hadn’t yet been publicly announced, the news was first reported last night when the head of the Quebec association of bars, Renaud Poulin received word from Dubé personally.
