REVIEW: YG, Stay Dangerous

Reuniting with DJ Mustard, the Dr. Dre to his Snoop Dogg, offered plenty of potential for greatness, though this was ultimately not achieved.

YG, Stay Dangerous (Def Jam)

Is YG past his peak? HIs 2014 debut My Krazy Life is arguably the decade’s only West Coast hip hop classic apart from Kendrick Lamar records, and 2016’s Still Brazy continued to display substantial artistic growth. Despite making such a mark, it seems as if third time is not the charm for the Bompton emcee. Stay Dangerous feels uninspired, the rapper succumbing to trends more than ever. Reuniting with DJ Mustard, the Dr. Dre to his Snoop Dogg, offered plenty of potential for greatness, though this was ultimately not achieved. 6/10 Trial Track: “Big Bank” feat. 2 Chainz, Big Sean & Nicki Minaj
