Mourning [A] BLKstar

Get to Cagibi’s new Little Italy location for the launch of Katalogue, an online endeavour by the founders of KickDrum that will list and connect local bands — see more about Katalogue in our feature article here. 6596 St-Laurent, 5 p.m.–7 p.m., free

Street artist Waxhead hosts a public discussion on the subject of Art & Community as part of MURAL fest’s ongoing festivities. The event is free but seating is limited, so book your place ahead of time here. 3527 St-Laurent, 6 p.m., free

If you’re having a champagne kind of day, check out Veuve Clicquot’s launch of the Secret Garden In the Sun, located on a hidden terrasse in Old Montreal that’ll be done up in decor both floral and swanky — the event description promises a glamorous and “Instagrammable” scene populated by local celebs. Oysters will be served for $1 and Veuve bottles will be available for $100 until 8 p.m. 139 St-Paul W., 7 p.m.–1 a.m.

Suoni per il Popolo presents Mourning [A] BLKstar, described as “a multi-generational, gender and genre non-conforming amalgam of Black culture dedicated to servicing the stories and songs of the post-apocalyptic diaspora.” Performing will be local acts Elle Barbara’s Black Space and Sick. La Vitrola (4602 St-Laurent), 9 p.m., $10/$13

Check out the Fringe Festival show A Dyke’s Guide to Fair Play, an ironic exploration of safe spaces structured as a dystopian game show. Read our June cover story about the Montreal theatre collective behind A Dyke’s Guide, Daughter Product, here. Studio Jean-Valcourt du Conservatoire (4750 Henri-Julien) 9:45 p.m., $8
