Piknic Électronik has booked some fine local DJ talent for St-Jean with Ryan Playground, Tommy Kruise, Clarian, Apportez Votre Vin and a live set by CRi. Plaine des Jeux (Parc Jean-Drapeau), 2–9:30 p.m., $14.50/$16.80/$19

Local artist center Never Apart celebrates their third anniversary with a pool party followed by an evening of live music, courtesy of the Beat Escape, Tess Roby, House of Bamboo (Bamboo Hermann) and Jerico. It’s also the last chance to see their spring exhibition. 7049 St-Urbain, 3 p.m.–9 p.m., free

Maisonneuve magazine launches their summer issue at Alexandraplatz Bar, featuring live readings from local authors. The event is co-hosted by publisher Drawn & Quarterly, who will be showcasing new titles on site. 6731 Esplanade, 4 p.m., free

The city’s official St-Jean Baptiste Day celebrations (to be attended or avoided) are going down in the evening, starting with live music at Place des Festivals downtown, followed by the parade, which will move west on de Maisonneuve from St-Denis to Peel. The highlight of this will probably be the afterparty DJ set by Poirier. Ste-Catherine/Jeanne-Mance, 6 p.m., parade at 9:15 p.m., afterparty 10:30 p.m.–12 a.m.

If you’ve always wanted to belt out your favourite Celine and Roch Voisine songs in public, the St-Jean edition of Lipster karaoke at Notre Dame des Quilles is the place to be. 32 Beaubien E., 9:30 p.m., free
