Afrotonik 2017

Day two of the Folk Festival by the Lachine Canal — which runs all afternoon and evening on the outdoor stages and continues with a jam at the Annexe St-Ambroise — features (among others) El Coyote, our March-issue cover gal Helena Deland, Three O’Clock Train and Plants and Animals, who’ll close out the night on the main stage. St-Patrick & Pitt, 2–10 p.m. (later at Annexe), PWYC

Spirit Walk 2018 is an annual fundraiser and march in solidarity with the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal and the Indigenous communities they support. To register as an official sponsor, you can find more information here. George-Étienne Cartier Monument (Jeanne-Mance Park), 2 p.m., free to participate/$20 to register as a sponsor

Village au Pied du Courant — site of weekly Saturday afternoon/evening parties all summer — gets especially lively this weekend with Afrotonik, bringing dancers, DJs, some live music, a VJ and themed food kiosks to the site, which is already tricked out with a beach, hammocks, food and drink stands, a family games area, a reading corner (?) and more. 2100 Notre-Dame E., 4–12 a.m., free entry

BLiSS collective hosts their fourth Rooftop Sessions event, which brings local DJs, artists and performers together to perform and showcase their latest work. This edition includes food and drink, art and zines for sale, as well as a tattoo artist on site. 1600 St-Hubert, 9–11 p.m., $8/$10

The FrancoFolies music fest is wrapping up tomorrow night, but not before assembling a who’s-who of Quebec hip hop (namely Koriass, FouKi, Alaclair Ensemble, Rymz, Lary Kidd, Dead Obies, Taktika, Joe Rocca, Brown, URBN SCNC XL) for tonight’s Rapkeb Allstars show. Bell stage (Ste-Catherine & Jeanne-Mance), 9 p.m., free
