Concordia hosts a panel about “the intersectionality of racism and sexism in contemporary Quebec.” Titled Is Feminism White?, the talk will feature women from the departments of sociological and anthropological studies, social work, philosophy, political science, human genetics and sociology and criminology. 1455 de Maisonneuve W. Montreal composer Aleks Schürmer launches a new season of chamber music series Autour de la Flute with a concert tonight at Old Montreal’s Chapelle de Notre Dame de Bon Secours featuring excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, plus a new work of his own called Trouble in Candyland: Status Updates of a Modern Clara and her Nutcracker. 400 St-Paul E., 7:30 p.m., $30/$10 students

This weekend marks the inaugural edition of new Indigenous literary and performing arts festival Atotam, launching tonight at Bar le Ritz PDB with an album release show for Leanne Betasamosake Simpson’s f(l)ight, a work praised as “wondrous and unflinching” by the Weakerthans’ John K. Samson. Opening readings and performances from Krysta Williams, Lindsay Nixon, Louis Esme Cruz and Moe Clark with Melody McKiver. 179 Jean-Talon W., 8:30 p.m., $15

The big hip hop show at the M for Montreal festival tonight showcases some serious local talent: Rymz, WordUp! Battles, Lary Kidd, les Anticipateurs, Vnce Carter and Shash’U and les 13 Salopards. 59 Ste-Catherine E., 10 p.m., $20
