As part of Montreal Pride week festivities, check out the Afro Pride event Mega Rooftop Jerk BBQ, with Afrohouse, reggae, zouk and kompa music (Unity terrasse, 1171 Ste-Catherine E., 5 p.m., free) — this is one of several scheduled community BBQs happening tonight, check today’s complete program for details about the others. There’s also the annual Montreal Dyke March (leaving Philips Square at 7 p.m., free) and a cabaret Freakshow orchestrated by Montreal burlesque star Rainbow (Cabaret Mado, Ste-Catherine E., 11 p.m., $15/VIP $20 or $25).

The Under Pressure Festival invites you to a film screening this afternoon at Théâtre Sainte Catherine of the documentary So That You Can Stand, following a group of young Inuit representatives elected by their community to take on Quebec Hydro during a 1971 northern development, leading to the first northern land claim negotiation in Canada. Head to the Belgo building’s Galerie POPOP for the vernissage of Marie Ségolène’s exhibition Aphrodite/Venus, featuring the results of four months of photo and video collaborations with John Londono, Olivier L. Gariépy, Charles Day Halsey and Islove Lee, plus designer/stylist Courtney Pedersen and jeweller Garrett Johnson (blessedpoppy). The vernissage will feature a performance with Archie Goloat, and an accompanying book will be available from Anteism. 372 Ste-Catherine W., #442-444, 5–8 p.m., free

Ottawa-based artist collective Babely Shades makes their Montreal debut at Bad Lunch tonight with a showcase of artists of colour featuring San Francisco’s Ah Mer Ah Su plus our own Hua Li and November. Secret location, 8:30 p.m., $10/PWYC
