It’s Groundhog Day. Jour de la marmotte. Sure, meteorology is a science, and even the Farmer’s Almanac has some merit, but letting critters predict the weather is just weird dumb fun — no need to over-question it. On a sad note, Manitoba’s go-to groundhog Winnipeg Willow died over the weekend, but the media will still flock to Ontario’s Wiarton Willie, Nova Scotia’s Shubenacadie Sam and of course Pennsylvania’s Punxsutawney Phil. Punx not dead!

Multidisciplinary artist Swarm hosts a vernissage at Café l’Artère for her February exhibition Out There // In Here, where new works will be on display as well as projections of previous installations including her street art, with a selection of prints available for sale plus a performance from Pith and the Parenchymas. 7000 Parc, 6 p.m., free

You can also head to Espace Mushagalusa for the vernissage of Afropop, an exhibition featuring powerful portraits and paintings by young Montreal artists Maliciouz and Kandolo. 533 Ontario E., 6 p.m., free

Plateau pizzeria Watts launches their first edition of le Night Market, a new regular event featuring vintage goodies up for grabs from Ruse, Lost & Found Shop and Phonopolis (whose rep will also serve as DJ for the evening), plus a live art performance from Lebicar. 351 Roy E., 6 p.m. til late, free entry

A short stack of great local musicians will take the stage at Cagibi’s weekly Mardi Spaghetti show tonight, namely the Barr Brothers’ Brad Barr and Sarah Pagé on guitar and harp, respectively, with an opening set by a quartet featuring Joshua Zubot (violin), Vicky Mettler (guitar), Scott Thomson (trombone) and Jonah Fortune (bass). 5490 St-Laurent, 9 p.m.

Wet is an alt-R&B trio from Brooklyn who recently released their debut album Don’t You, and they’re playing Montreal tonight, with fellow New Yorker Kelsey Lu opening. Bar le Ritz PDB (179 Jean-Talon W.), 9 p.m., $15
