Celine Dion in wax at Grévin

Wondering what’s open and closed today? Pretty much everything is open, though some establishments are closing a little earlier than usual, like certain banks (BMO’s closing at 3 p.m.), most grocery stores (5 p.m.) and the SAQ (5 p.m., 7 p.m. for SAQ Express). Mail is being delivered, but garbage/recycling pick-up vary from borough to borough over the next few days — find details about that and other city services here.

Take a break from last-minute Christmas shopping or escape the whole Xmas thing entirely by stepping into Grévin, Montreal’s wax museum. (Did you know Montreal had a wax museum?)  Most of its likenesses are eerily accurate works of art that are very much worth a visit, and the ambiance is something special, too. You will trip. Eaton Centre (705 Ste-Catherine W., top floor), 10 a.m.–5 p.m., $19.50/$18 seniors/$15.50 youth/student/$13.50 children

If you’re feeling festive, check out the Christmas Village at St-Michel’s TOHU, featuring artisanal vendors for last-minute gifts, wintry snacks like roasted chestnuts and mulled wine and a giant Christmas tree with some friendly elves. 2345 Jarry E., 11 a.m.–3 p.m., free

Get yourself to a radio (or an Internet connection) to tune in to Noël Gon’ Be A’RIGHT, the annual Christmas special on CJLO hosted by Cult MTL’s own Darcy MacDonald and Erik Leijon, featuring interviews with A Tribe Called Quest’s Jarobi, Narcy, Safia Nolin and Trailer Park Boys’ Jim Lahey. 1690AM/live stream, 1–3 p.m., free

Peopl nightclub hosts a Christmas Eve Jingle Bellz party with an Eastern Europe showcase of DJs including Ellroy, Alexei Sopin, N!ght and Ivan K. 390 Notre-Dame W., 10 p.m., $12/$10 in advance

If the Plateau is more your scene, you can also head to le Salon Daomé for a Noisefloor Christmas party with a live performance from VOL plus DJs Okin, Andrès Velilla, Marshall Destro and visuals by Jhota. 141 Mont-Royal E., 10 p.m., $4 before midnight, $7 after
