The Mascara & Popcorn International Short Film Festival starts today with their horror-burlesque-zombie Black Carpet event. Théâtre Ste-Catherine (264 Ste-Catherine W.), 7 p.m., $15. Followed by their opening party at Cabaret Underworld with the Scroll headlining. We interview frontman J. Deeh about the fest here. 1403 Ste-Elisabeth, 11 p.m., $7 or $5 for Black Carpet attendees.

Check out the Montreal Pride edition of the newest lesbian party Scissor That, with special guest DJ Shaydakiss. The Royal Phoenix (5788 St-Laurent), 8 p.m., $5 after 11 p.m.

If you’re feelin’ some comedy tonight, head over to M Montreal Hostel for Stand-Up at the M featuring Andrew Searles, Jon Malanos, Matt Michaud and more. 1245 St-André, 8:30 p.m., PWYC

Hear the sounds of RYAN Playground, DJ Sagewondah, Walla P and KRSDRK at No Trap. Blue Dog Motel (3958 St-Laurent), 10 p.m., free

It’s the “underside of pride” edition of POMPe, celebrating the birthday of DJ JNNBNNRCK, marking the launch of queer zine The Beef and raising funds for Pervers/Cité simultaneously. Also DJing are Mexico’s Pelvis Gallo and He Pee Fini, with a live performance by Lilac Poussez. Katacombes (1635 St-Laurent), 11 p.m., $5
