Should the government end all restrictions & let Canadians self-isolate if they’re at risk?

2 in 5 Canadians say Yes.

With the Quebec curfew reportedly ending on Monday, a new Angus Reid Institute poll seems especially pertinent right now. They asked respondents whether it’s time for governments to end all restrictions and let Canadians self-isolate if they’re at risk.

While the majority of Canadians did not agree (56%), 2 in 5 (39%) do feel it’s time for restrictions to end. Alberta respondents were most in favour of ending all restrictions (50%) while Nova Scotians were least in favour (32%).

(It’s worth noting that the hospital capacity and healthcare system’s ability to cope may not have been factored in to the answers by all respondents on either side of the question.)

A recent Léger poll also found that 56% of Canadians were in favour of restrictions as a way to fight Omicron.
