How to Make the Perfect Pizza on the Grill

Everyone loves pizza, so why not make it on the grill?

Everyone loves pizza, so why not make it on the grill? If you’ve never tasted grilled pizza before, you’re in for a real treat! Today, we are going to learn how to prepare the perfect grilled pizza.

Buy a Pizza Stone

Before you can enjoy delicious grilled pizza, you may have to do a little shopping first. We suggest that you go out and buy a pizza stone. A pizza stone will be your best friend when grilling up a pizza pie. Pizza stones allow the dough and other ingredients to cook evenly.

Preheat Your Grill

The first step in cooking the perfect grilled pizza is by heating up the grill in advance. When preheating the grill, be sure you don’t forget to place the pizza stone inside. Heat the grill and the stone for about 30 minutes.

Take the Dough Out of the Fridge

Before you begin making your pizza, make sure to take the pizza dough out of the fridge. Your dough should be room temperature before you roll it out. If not, it may be tough and hard to work with. It takes about 2 to 3 hours for dough to get to room temperature, so make sure you take it out in plenty of time before you start the grill.

Precook Specific Toppings

Depending on what you like on your pizza, you may need to precook some of your toppings. Toppings like bacon, onions, and Brussels sprouts will need to be cooked before you put them on your pizza. Precooking them will keep them from being underdone and help prevent burning your other ingredients.

Avoid Buying Pre-shredded Cheese

While pre-shredded cheese is convenient, it is not wise to use it on your grilled pizza. Many store-bought pre-shredded cheeses contain an anticoagulant agent that prevents the cheese from sticking together. This can make the gooey, cheesy factor that you’re looking for on your pizza, difficult to achieve. Instead, buy your favorite fresh cheese and shred it yourself.

Cook With the Lid Closed

Once you’ve placed your pizza on the grill, make sure to keep the lid closed. Constantly opening the lid can remove the heat needed to grill a perfect pizza. Instead, keep an eye on the temperature and timer. Depending on the size of your pizza, it should take about 10 minutes to cook.

Be Adventurous With Your Toppings

When planning your grilled pizza recipe, why not be adventurous? It is always fun to try new toppings and flavor combinations. This will make grilling more exciting and you never know when you just might come up with something super yummy!
