Taverne Cobra

Have you seen Xavier Dolan’s latest film Juste la fin du monde (It’s Only the End of the World)? Starring an almost all-French cast (Gaspard Ulliel, Nathalie Baye, Vincent Cassel and Marion Cotillard), and based on a play by Jean-Luc Lagarce, the film won the Grand Prix at Cannes this year, but has been receiving mixed/negative reviews. See for yourself at Cinéma du Parc, where it’s screening with English subtitles. 3575 Parc, 2 p.m., 6:45 p.m., 9 p.m., $12/$11 for young adults (14-25) and seniors

Check out the vernissage for a Halloween-season group art show Witches, featuring a wide variety of paintings and illustrations by 29 artists. Galerie Repaire des 100 talents (5867 St-Hubert), 4:30–9 p.m., free

The second of three Trump vs. Clinton debate is happening tonight, and once again both Chez Boris (the Mile End café/donut shop) and Taverne Cobra (the Little Italy bar) are screening it, for the cable-less and those in need of company (and snacks) to watch this political horror show. Taverne Cobra (6584 St-Laurent), Chez Boris (5151 Parc), 8 p.m., both free entry

Prized and praised American hip hop/electronic producer and selector DJ Shadow plays Club Soda with experimental bass artist Noer the Boy. 1225 St-Laurent, 8:30 p.m., $41 (tax and fees in)

Local show organizers Mothlight invite experimental Halifax pop trio Mauno to la Vitrola with openers Luka (Toronto), Little Fire (Zuzu’s Petals) and Freemusic. 4602 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $10/$8 in advance

The main event of the BBCM’s Black & Blue festival is, as always, an all-night mega party in Olympic Park, this time at Centre Pierre-Charbonneau. The 26th annual bash — theme: Stardust — features U.K. DJ Danny Howells, NYC’s Morabito and locals Alain Jackinsky and Ian Key. 3000 Viau, 10 p.m.–10 a.m., $105–$140
