Holy Data

Holy Data

Tonight at the Just for Laughs festival, comic Matt Braunger performs his second of three Made of Mistakes show to Montreal Improv (3697 St-Laurent, 7:30 p.m., $20.87), stand-up comic and heavyweight comedy writer Kurt Metzger performs his first of three shows this week at Café Cleopatra (1230 St-Laurent, 10:30 p.m., $20.87) and Andy Kindler begins his five-night run at Katacombes with The Alternative Show (1635 St-Laurent, 11:59 p.m., $20.87).

La Plante hosts a screening of Todd Haynes’ first major feature film, 1995’s Safe, starring Julianne Moore as a woman who becomes increasingly allergic to her superficially perfect life. Bonus: free popcorn. Secret location, 8 p.m., free

Check out a great line-up of local bands tonight at le Ritz, playing a variation on 21st century permutations of shoegaze, psych, post-punk and pop: Holy Data (feat. former members of Parlovr, Sunset Rubdown, Miracle Fortress and Small Teeth), Foggies and Traces. 179 Jean-Talon W., 9 p.m., $5

It’s another party in the street care of Just for Laughs’ Melting Pot Block Party. Tonight’s edition is co-presented by the Wakanda Club, so expect some stellar “Afro electrique” beats from Pierre Kwenders, Keita Juma, Kae Sun, Walla P, B. Kojak and your host Gad Elmaleh. Outside 175 Ste-Catherine W., 10 p.m., free
