Best of MTL 2016: Film & Arts

Your choices for the best people and works from the worlds of film, theatre, literature, visual art, fashion, gaming and festivals.

Evelyne Brochu
Evelyne Brochu

Évelyne Brochu reigns in the Best Actress category, on the strength of both her Orphan Black history, her role on CBC’s X-Company and a series of sweet film credits, including Sophie Deraspe’s Les Loups, which happens to be your choice for #2 Best Film. Speaking of that category, we acknowledge that Sicario and Demolition don’t meet the Can-con standards, but we were compelled to include the film because their director are Québécois. Come on people. Star Wars? Mad Max? Not Montreal films! Turbo Kid definitely qualifies though, and congrats to the team behind that retro-futurist adventure, a success here and on screens around the world.
