Doldrums

Plateau art space Galerie d’Este hosts a vernissage for Conversations With Hopper, a new collection of urban landscape paintings by Toronto artist Peter Harris in which references to famous works from art history peek through the glass windows of the lobbies, ATMs and homes of the urban environment. 4396 St-Laurent, 5–8 p.m., free

Head to Nomad Live for Chills & Mingles, a pasta-salad-fuelled social gathering that doubles as a chance to check out Wim Wenders’ 2011 documentary Pina, about the life of the late groundbreaking German choreographer Pina Bausch, which will be screened during the event. 129 Van Horne, 7 p.m., free

If you’ve never seen Massimo — the Montreal comedian currently working out of Toronto, who’s opened for Sugar Sammy during his killer run of bilingual shows — you have five chances to catch him headlining at Comedyworks tonight through Saturday. 1238 Bishop, 8:30 p.m. each night, additional shows on Friday and Saturday, $15

Both the Dead Obies and Majical Cloudz shows tonight are sold out, but if you’re down for some last-minute live music and party vibez, check out Doldrums, Better Person, Tess Roby and Summer Cool DJs at Drones. Secret location, 9 p.m., $5

Local hip hop group Dead Obies launch their new record Gesamtkunstwerk at le National, but that show is sold out. You can still party with other fans (and probably the band) at the afterparty with a special guest at Velvet Speakeasy. 426 St-Gabriel, 11 p.m., $10

Also on the party tip tonight is the second edition of Texture at Peopl, a new concept featuring live art and special surprise guest DJs. 390 Notre-Dame W., 11 p.m., free
