HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

For our mega-list of Halloween parties, shows, musicals and movie screenings, see our Halloween Party Guide here.

There’s no better day for a Zombie Walk than Halloween, so get yourself suited up and shuffle over to Place des Arts, where the festivities will kick off at 1 p.m. with games, dance lessons, make-up stations and more, followed by the zombie walk itself at 4 p.m. and finishing off with a performance from les Breastfeeders at 5:15 p.m. and an outdoor screening of the locally produced action flick Turbo Kid at 7 p.m. Place des Festivals, Jeanne-Mance & Ste-Catherine W., 1–9 p.m., free

Drop by the Belgo for the vernissage of Cities by the Rivers at SBC Gallery, a solo show by artist Anna Boghiguian that explores the physical and psychological barriers that rivers represent in cities that straddle them, based on the artist’s time spent in places like Egypt, India, Ethiopia, Brazil and of course, Montreal. 372 Ste-Catherine W., #507, 2–5 p.m., with a reading by the artist at 4 p.m., free

The merchants along St-Laurent Blvd. are a special daylong series of Halloween events called Samain, which includes a witch’s market at Parc des Amériques, musical performances inspired by Dracula and scary movies Scream and From Dusk Til Dawn showing at Cinéma Excentris. In a parallel event, the artistically inclined can take a street-art tour that will criss-cross the area with a couple of pit stops to take advantage of the special events. St-Laurent between Sherbrooke & Mont-Royal, 3–9 p.m., free. Street art tour departs from Mont-Royal E. & de Bullion at 3:15 p.m., PWYC

Montreal’s Silent Disco Squad gets in on the Halloween action, inviting the hords with headphones to parade in the streets dancing to the spooky celebratory mix they’ve put together for the occasion. See all the details here. Jeanne-Mance & de Maisonneuve, 5–7 p.m., free

POP Montreal’s Halloween party — which is now packing into Mile Ex mini-bar Alexandraplatz — is going the cover-band route, with the Whip-Its (members of Each Other, Sheer Agony and Fountain) playing Devo, and Border Collie and the Infinite Radness doing Smashing Pumpkins. 6731 Esplanade, 9:30 p.m., $5/$10 without a costume

Casa del Popolo has just announced a very cool party that’s also pretty easy on the budget: Casaween, with DJs Tio Ho Ho, All the Above and Dentalmental “transforming the bar into the club scene from Blade,” spinning Giallo disco, synth wave and post-punk while smoke machines, rave lights and projections of “glitched” horror movies (Suspiria in particular, which is pretty sweet) fill out the ambiance. 4873 St-Laurent (old room), 10 p.m., free
