Last weekend it was Ribfest, this weekend bring PoutineFest! Head to the Old Port to sample some delicious poutine creations from 16 food trucks, with games and live music rounding out the experience. Quai Jacques-Cartier, 11 a.m.–11 p.m., continues daily to Sunday, July 5

Check out a sample sale at the ateliers of Rachel F., a Montreal label that designs and manufactures stylish leather bags and accessories. 4831 Ste-Catherine E., 9 a.m.–8 p.m., free entry. Continues Saturday 12–5 p.m.

It’s the first day of Montreal ComicCon, a must-see event for gamers, cosplayers, trekkers, fanboys and girls and comic and sci-fi lovers of all types to check out panels, demos, celebrity guests, screenings and much more. Palais des Congrès (1001 Jean-Paul-Riopelle), 1–8 p.m., continues through Sunday.

It’s Multi Culti Records night at the East End’s open-air Village au Pied du Courant, holding the 2015 season’s first Soirée Ephémère with music by DJ/label co-founder Thomas Von Party and Ohm Hourani. 2100 Notre-Dame W., 6 p.m.-midnight

The 1988 John Sayles film about the 1919 “Black Sox” baseball scandal, Eight Men Out (starring a young Charlie Sheen and John Cusack), is screening tonight at the Cinémathèque. Check out the trailer here. 335 de Maisonneuve E., 7 p.m., $10/$9 students & seniors

Now he’s ready to introduce his brand new project with the grand opening weekend for École Privée, a new lower Plateau bar which boasts one of the best sound systems in North America.
