Vélo Sous Zero, the frosty 15-kilometre biking event that drew 1,000 cyclists last year, begins and ends in the heart of Parc Lafontaine. 3933 Parc la Fontaine, 10 a.m.

Stop by St-Henri’s Bar de Courcelle for a pint and catch some live painting by visiting artists Daniel La Salle and Isabelle Juillet, to a soundtrack by DJ Napolitaine. 4685 Notre-Dame W., 48 p.m., free entry

Concordia’s J.A. de Sève cinema marks the Chinese New Year (Feb. 19) with a 35mm screening of Cold Steel (2011), a “wartime sniper thriller” directed by David Wu, editor of John Woo’s classic films from the ’80s. A reel of rare vintage Hong Kong action trailers will precede the feature, to be introduced by the Fantasia festival’s King-Wei Chu, and snacks and tea will be served at intermission. 1400 de Maisonneuve W., 6:30 p.m.

Madepoetix Productions relaunch their erotic poetry showcase, Art of Performing Aural Sex. Performers include Samantha Hines, Chanda T. Holmes and Jamila J. Le Belmont (4483 St-Laurent), 7 p.m., $20$25

If you don’t see your favourite bartender at your go-to watering hole tonight, it’s probably because they’re competing for glory in the Drunken Masters tournament, wherein 15 contenders will try to best last round’s winner and secure their spot in the championship finals. Bonus: special pricing on competition cocktails. Le Mal Nécessaire (1106B St-Laurent), 9 p.m., free entry
