Here’s what’s good at Nuit Blanche

The best dance parties, performances, movies, exhibits, crafts, sports, food & drink at this year’s edition of Montreal’s (mostly free) all-night art bash.

FOOD & DRINK

 
Sample some mulled beer from the Hopfenstark microbrewery’s Torchlight Procession, beginning at Cinémathèque québécoise. 335 de Maisonneuve E., 9:10 p.m. to 9:50 p.m., free

La Cuvée d’Hiver is serving up whiskey and other spirits in an ambiance that mashes up of the Roaring Twenties and rock ’n’ roll, with a live performance by 1950s/’60s revivalist act Cherry Chérie and Speakeasy Electroswing DJ Don Mescal. 5035 St-Dominique, 4 p.m.-2 a.m., $10 (includes a take-home Cuvée glass)

Pâtisserie Marius et Fanny invites cocoa addicts to write their names in chocolate on an ice bar, with the guidance of their in-house chocolate master. The most original signature merits a prize, but all participants get to eat their handiwork. 4439 St-Denis, 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., $2

Get a few free bites of Indonesian cuisine at MIA Tapas Indonésiens, also offering spice classes and a show of traditional Balinese dancing. 350 de Castelnau E., 5 p.m.-2 a.m., free

 

GET PHYSICAL

 
Play pick-up street hockey outside City Hall,  where hot drinks will be served to spectators. Equipment will be available on-site. 275 Notre-Dame E., 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., free

Go for a swim under the stars at the Hilton Montréal Bonaventure. Adirondack chairs, torches and fireplaces will be set up by this garden pool. 900 de la Gauchetière W., 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., $15 (reservation required)

The Plateau’s Schubert Bath offers another opportunity for night swimming, with a live soundtrack courtesy of bands from the Brothers and Sisters record label (Pachyderm, Dust Bowl Era, Vague mémoire, Gooseball Brown). 3950 St-Laurent, 9 p.m.-1 a.m., $10/free for kids under 12

Get a feel for the Saint-Jude spa experience: access to the steam room, Finnish sauna and hydrotherapy baths, mini-classes, a health bar, a torch run and more. 3988 St-Denis, 8 p.m.-1 a.m., free

Climbers and yoga practitioners are invited to try out the walls and floors at Zéro Gravité, with a DJ and live music providing some ambiance. 4519 Papineau, climbing 9 p.m.-1 a.m., yoga 9:15 p.m.-10:30 p.m., $10 (free for anyone wearing Tyrolean)

Villeray’s Soham Yoga will be leading seven 45-minute candlelit sessions, for practitioners of all levels. 306 Villeray, 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., free
