Piknic Électronik is back for the second day of its opening-weekend double-header, with a pack of French DJs, namely Madben, Oniris, Agoria and Sonik Crew, as well as locals Veronika and Oliver. Place de l’Homme, Parc Jean Drapeau (Île Ste-Hélène), 2 p.m., $10 before 3 p.m./$15

Montreal bluegrass collective Notre Dame de Grass launch a new record, That’s How the Music Begins, with a launch party featuring a short performance at 7 p.m. Petit Campus (57 Prince-Arthur E.), 6–8 p.m., free

The Montreal Sketchfest begins today at Théâtre Ste-Catherine with performances from les Lundis, les Productions GROTOF & TIJO and les Partenaires. 264 Ste-Catherine E., 8 p.m., $12 or $45 for a festival pass

The Next Music From Tokyo showcase presents Japanese talent at Divan Orange, namely shoegaze band Kinoko Teikoku, math pop act Uchu Conbini, post-rock/jazz fusion band Jizue, emo pop outfit Happy!Mari and psych/prog/blues improvisers nayuta. 4234 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $10/$15
