CocoRosie

There’s a little less to do than usual in Montreal on this holiday Monday, so give thanks for what you’ve got, recover from whatever you did last night and consider the following:

Marc Halberstadt’s Cowjews and Indians — screening at Cinéma du Parc as part of the Festival du nouveau cinéma — draws parallels between the experience of the Jews of 19th-century Germany and that of Native Americans. 3575 Parc, 1 p.m., $7–$12

Catch the Casady sisters’ strange folk act CocoRosie, with L.A. MC Busdriver. SAT (1201 St-Laurent), 8 p.m., $25–$28

See acclaimed eccentric minimalist composer, pianist and singer Charlemagne Palestine. La Sala Rossa (4848 St-Laurent), 8 p.m., $21

See an experimental quintet featuring bassist André Asselin (American Devices, Nutsak), saxophonist Félix-Antoine Hamel (Ninja Simone), drummer Johann Schlager, Cult MTL jazz writer Paul Serralheiro on trumpet and former Cult MTL jazz writer Lawrence Joseph (ex-Terminal Sunglasses, les Zimmis Grandes, Amahoro, the Harpits) on guitar. Also on the bill is free jazz/noise/punk duo Leftover Diable. Casa del Popolo (4873 St-Laurent), 9 p.m., $6
