“The Marking of Territories” by Scott Everingham

Fill out our Academy Rewards ballot before 11:59 p.m. tonight and you could win prizes from the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois film festival, Cinéma du Parc, la SAT and Metropole Films. See the ballot and prize details here.

Today’s the first day of Montreal Joue, a new festival where libraries around town, of all places, will be holding video game-related installations. At St-Henri library, check out Arcade Royale, featuring an eclectic lineup of indie games courtesy of Mount Royal Game Society. It goes on til Mar 2, while the fest ends Mar 10. 4707 Notre-Dame W., 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Check out Scott Everingham’s chillingly beautiful, abstractly narrative paintings in Until Dust at the exhibit’s vernissage at Galerie Trois Points. The smaller space welcomes Olga Chagaoutdinova’s un-ravelling, a video project of withering and revival. Belgo Building, 372 Ste-Catherine W., #520, 3-6 p.m.

The month-long Buckfest continues tonight with rockers Chomp, Fanachronic, Cortisol and Close2Hell. Café Chaos (2031 St-Denis), doors 7:30 p.m., show 8 p.m., $10

Hémisphère Gauche is the place for a grrrls’ night out, with a roaring live soundtrack by the Horny Bitches, Machine Gun Suzie and the Bombs. 221 Beaubien E., 9 p.m., $7

Pressure Drop moves downtown, with Mossman (local specialist in reggae sides, of Dub Lounge fame) joining CKUT’s Aaron Maiden and MC Howard Stretch Carr spinning old-school reggae and ska, Caribbean soul and rocksteady, all on vinyl. Bleury-Bar à Vinyle (2109 Bleury), 10 p.m., $7

Strap on some strong footwear and join the Satellite Society, a new DJ night with Bordello, Vosper and Jealous Lovers on the third floor of the SAT. 1201 St-Laurent, 10 p.m., $12.50

CFC’s monthly dance party, Elevator, has local acts Cyan (from Modular Systems on CKUT) and Master Choice (members of Citofono) joining resident Smoked Meat Fax Machine. 6388 St-Hubert, 10:30 p.m., $5
