Jeppe on a Friday, screening tonight at Excentris

Local documentarian Shannon Walsh, in collaboration with South African filmmaker Arya Lalloo, brings Jeppe on a Friday, a portrait of a day in the life of a Johannesburg neighbourhood, to RIDM. Excentris (3536 St-Laurent), 7 p.m. Check Cult MTL‘s latest print edition for an interview with the filmmakers, and watch this space for further RIDM reviews.

The Fauna Foundation, a South shore wildlife reserve and chimp rescue, is hosting Gone Wild: A Science Spectacular, a variety show jam-packed with science facts, live experiments, intellectual improv and other brain busters for your inner mad scientist. Ontarians the Creepshow join forces with locals the Fundamentals and Hellbound Hepcats for one big, bad-ass showFoufounes Électriques (87 Ste-Catherine E.), 7 p.m., $10

Poirier and Ghostbeard do their Sud-West thing, making you move once again, this time in the Plateau. Le Belmont (4483 St-Laurent), 10 p.m., $5

Take in some Colombian culture at The Burning Skies of Bogotá, with music by Daniel Áñez García on piano, accompanied by light installations courtesy of Adam Basanta. MAI (3680 Jeanne-Mance), 8 p.m., $15-$22
