Art for Music for Art, for you

The local scene stalwarts and good people at POP and the Poster Club are offering a huge music poster sale and series of free shows.

You can buy or simply cruise the goods, including show posters by Adam Waito, Charmant & Courtois, Chat Perdu, Jesse Purcell, Tyler K. Rauman and many more while you listen to live performances by the artists they feature. Funds raised at the event will go to Art POP to help pay for the suite of sweet exhibits you can expect come fall during the Pop Montreal festival, as well as to co-hosts Poster Club, a group of artists who aim to draw the city’s poster designing community closer together.

Live music performers include Folly & The Hunter, Child Actor, Ari Swan and Palomino Falls among others, and there will be beer and snacks for sale on-site.

The event is also acting as a double zine launch to celebrate the birth of wyrd rockers Gabriel Jasmin and Frank’s Slum Jelly and Ohara Hale and JangoJim’s gorgeous bright, squiggly pop icons in Hamburgers from Hell. ■

Art for Music for Art takes place at Espace POP (5587 du Parc) tomorrow, Aug. 4, 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., free.
