Perspectives X 4

Thursday, May 4 10 a.m. to Tuesday, May 9 8 p.m.

A whimsical entanglement of creative minds share one space in an exhibition by local artists Martin Schop, Elin Weinstein, Yves Cousineau and Claudia Gómez, May 3rd to 9th at Galerie Espace.

In this exhibition, Martin Schop presents his “observations of the beautiful and sublime” through his distinctive landscape photography. Celebrating the luminosity of pearls, Elin Weinstein shares her collection of “Resilience” jewelry and introduces her “Techno Japan” collection inspired by the streetlights of Tokyo. Yves Cousineau gives us floating wooden objects representing spirit creatures and Quebec fauna, while springs of metal are offered in the shape of jewelry by Claudia Gomez.

Imagine….. flying cats, springs of metal, primordial landscapes, luminosity and techno-colours! Beginning with floating installations that dance above your head, the marvellous world of Yves Cousineau takes inspiration from the animals indigenous to Quebec. With Calder as his muse, he hand picks local hardwoods to create art with movement. The walls are adorned with the large, immersive landscape photography of Martin Schop.

From immense and timeless panoramas/scenes, visitors then move their attention to the smaller universes of objects created with the human body as a canvas. The universality and simplicity of metal springs is translated by Claudia Gómez to shape and form pieces of silver into pieces of jewelry. And finally, Elin Weinstein unveils the bright colours of her techno Japan collection and shares her organic and edgy pieces celebrating the intrinsic resilience of the pearl.
Creative minds converge and explore our outer and inner worlds at this upcoming exhibition of local artists, welcoming all art-lovers from May 4th.
