Diasporic Affections

Diasporic Affections

Thursday, Jan 16 , 5:30 p.m. to Saturday, Mar 15 , 5:30 p.m.

The SBC Gallery of Contemporary Art is delighted to announce its upcoming exhibition, Diasporic Affections.

Bringing together the works of artists Hamza Abouelouafaa, Gem Chang-Kue, Francisco-Fernando Granados, Poline Harbali, and Laïla MestariDiasporic Affections presents diasporic narratives as micro-stories in motion. This curatorial project, the result of a collaboration between writer Nicholas Dawson and the Phorie collective, invites us to think of diasporas as spaces that generate affective experiences—shifting, unstable constellations that transform both migrant subjects and their cultures, resulting in processes of “diasporization.”

Vernissage on January 16, 2025 at 5:30 PM.
