Barganier // Lacopo // Neidermayer

Saturday, Jan 21 , 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Montreal-based musicians Emmanuel Lacopo and Erich Barganier join New York City’s Tyler Neidermayer for a set of experimental, improvised, and avant-classical music on classical guitar, prepared electric guitar, and synthesizers at Mile End Guitar Coop.

Tyler Neidermayer creates electronic music using his modular synthesizer to manipulate recordings of his clarinet and bass clarinet through a network of sound-shaping amplifiers. These digital reeds, articulated and filtered by controlled voltages, enter a process of resampling and time-stretching sound to smear new harmonies and freeze them into droning echoes. Lacopo’s performances showcase the guitar in a new light and offer an expanded sonic experience achieved throughmulti-instrumental performances, electronic processing and synthesis, and evolving interpretations; all while creating an environment where the traditional barrier between audience and performer is stripped away. Barganier is a composer and multi-instrumentalist hailing from St. Petersburg, Florida who currently resides between New York City and Montreal. He writes and performs chamber, orchestral, film, solo instrumental and electronic music that explores experimental technology, the edge of noise, improvisation, generative processes, and new forms of notation.

Neidermayer joins Lacopo and Barganier over the course of the night through solo, duo, and trio sets of improvised music and new pieces as they showcase the scope and breadth of the guitar and electronics in an intimate environment.

Admission is a suggested $5 at the door. Doors open at 7:30 PM and the show begins at 8 PM
