You’ll have the chance to win locally-donated gifts and prizes, and we’ll make sure you’ll never forget this night with our Sleazy Holiday Card photo booth!

Abby Stonehouse (Comedy)
Abby Stonehouse (@abbypstone_mtl) is a stand-up comedian/writer/producer/podcaster. Her storytelling comedy style juxtaposes her hopeful and honest approach to life with the horrific nitty-gritty of reality. Abby made her OFF-JFL/Zoofest debut in the summer of 2018 and again in 2022 & 2023. In May 2019 she performed and co-produced Montreal’s first fully accessible comedy show; Comedy for a Cause: Accessibility for All. This show happened again this year in September 2022 and at Zoofest in 2023, is now called Access Comedy. As a comedian with hearing loss, this show was near and dear to her heart. She is the creator and producer of the Montreal comedy show GET FXCKED. She is also the co-producer of Comedy on Demand (formally known as Lawn Laughs). If that isn’t enough she has a new podcast called House of Stone (as seen at Gigglefest, Ladyfest, and Just for Laughs) and A Horrific Evening Podcast.

 

Alo Azimov (Comedy)

Alo (she/her, they/them) is a transfeminine and non-binary comedian and storyteller. Her comedy style is full of witty comebacks that punch up and thoughtful humour. She is featured in the doc Saving Minds/Soigner l’esprit. She hosts and produces the show Tales of Gender Affirmation, a comedy storytelling show that centres trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming comedians. She has co-produced shows for Zoofest & OFF JFL, Pervers/cite, Ladyfest Montreal, and Gigglefestmtl! She is one of co-producers of The Poly Mic, a weekly queer open mic. She has performed at POP Montreal, Montreal Sketchfest, Fringe after Dark, Montreal Pride +more!

 

Morgan O’Shea (Comedy)

Morgan O’Shea has become a mainstay of the Canadian comedy scene. Originally from Calgary, Morgan now lives wherever comedy takes him, including Montreal and Toronto. He has headlined all across Canada and has performed at Just For Laughs, Off-JFL, JFL 42, and Zoofest several times. His album, “Adultish” reached #1 on iTunes. He also co-wrote and starred in the Montreal Fringe production, “Hardcastle and McCormick: Spiceface” and the Toronto/Montreal/Ottawa Fringe production, “The Win at Life Mega Expo”.

 

Naghmeh (Music)

Naghmeh is an Iranian-Canadian singer/songwriter, poet, and community organizer. She began performing as a solo artist in 2016 while living in San Francisco and decided to abandon the corporate grind to pursue her dream of becoming a musician. Naghmeh jumped head first into the world of rock ‘n roll and set off on the road over the following year with performances across Europe and South America. She moved back to Tiohtià:ke/Montreal to pursue music and record an album, which she released in 2019 under the name Naghmeh and the Southern Shores. Her sound is authentic in its delivery and blends different eras of music into a punky, alternative, pop rock. With throaty melodies, satirical lyrics and a touch of triumphant rock n’ roll, Naghmeh’s goal is to transform the listener’s internal turmoil into a healing, whimsical dance.

 

Avery Jane (Music)

Avery Jane is a Montreal-based singer/songwriter originally from Victoria BC. Her music is inspired by many different musical genres such as jazz, pop, folk, neo-soul, modern and classic Rhythm and Blues, which have amalgamated to create her unique personal sound and style. After years of performing in big bands, musical theatre, folk duos and indie-jazz bands, she relocated her career to Montreal and continued to focus on music and songwriting. In the fall of 2019, Avery began performing the pub circuit in Montreal as a solo act while honing her skills and writing original music. During the pandemic, her work changed drastically from performance-focused to creation of original music. In 2020, Rising Star remarked “the magic is in her lyrics and the story behind each song. She keeps it honest and really connects with the listener.”

 

Big Daddy Queen Power (Music)

Big Daddy Queen Power is a Korean-Italian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist lucky enough to be born and raised in the vibrant city of Tiohti:áke (Montreal). Her music is inspired by experiences of self love, growth, and friendships representing light and darkness by exploring different avenues of power in both polarities.

A believer of magic and manifestation, Big Daddy is on a mission to elevate the community through joy and playfulness and to spread love through her music, with the greater goal of facilitating an experience of Expansion for the community and those who share the journey with her. Her live shows can be characterized as magnetic, energetic and engaging, vibrating in gratitude.

In addition to performing, she also has a dream of opening a Creative Community Centre in Montreal, a place where people can come together and feel inspired to express themselves freely, learn music and other art forms, while allowing their creativity to flourish without judgment. She believes Music is a universal language of love as it fosters deep connections among people of all different backgrounds.

Loved by the ladies, wanted by the man, Big Daddy’s voice will touch you in places you’ve never been touched. Big Daddy will satisfy your every musical desire and (oh) so much more…

 

Tara McGowan-Ross (Spoken Word)

Tara McGowan-Ross is an urban Mi’kmaq writer and multidisciplinary artist who has been creating, producing, and generally making a mess in Montreal for a while now. Her poetry has been anthologized in Best Canadian Poetry and Anthologie de la poésie actuelle au femmes au Québec, and her memoir NOTHING WILL BE DIFFERENT was a finalist for the Weston Writer’s Trust award for nonfiction. She writes on Substack, ghostwrites for people she can’t tell you about, and hosts the Indigenous Literatures book club at Drawn & Quarterly.

 

Mina Minou (Burlesque)

Mina Minou (she/her) is an Iranian-American powerhouse in the fields of visual art, storytelling, burlesque, and the spaces between. Mina’s been using her background as a mutidisciplinary artist to delight audiences across North America for the past 9 years, pulling from her dizzyingly diverse range of original characters. This kitten delights as a slime-oozing flower or a sentient volcano diorama, a clown with clinical depression or a flirtatious ice cream man. Mina casts spells with her movements that leave her audience enchanted: witness the surreal fairytale, come to life!

 

SPECIAL GUEST:

Walter Lyng (Comedy)

Walter Lyng is a multifaceted performer who has been entertaining on stage and screen for more than a decade in and around his hometown of Montreal. Breaking into the stand-up comedy world in his early 20s, Walter has performed in venues and festivals throughout the country. On a local level, he has been featured in the Fringe Festival, Zoofest and JFL. Walter is the creator and star of the one man show Pitching Knife Fight as well as the co-host of the live talk show Night Fight, which was nominated in 2015 for a Just For Laughs award. In 2018, Walter and fellow comedian Reese Turner debuted their new show RAD DADs to a sold-out OFF JFL crowd before going on a successful tour of the East Coast. Keeping his fingers in many pots, Walter is also the co-host of Go Plug Yourself, a long-running and top-rated podcast in Montreal that focuses on the arts community. An avid pro-wrestling enthusiast, Walter has also served as the ring announcer for local promotions IWS and BATTLEWAR.
