AKOUSMA

Wednesday, Oct 18 8 p.m. to Friday, Oct 20 11 p.m.

Montreal’s AKOUSMA festival of immersive digital music returns for its 19th edition, celebrating 75 years of musique concrète (invented by Pierre Schaeffer in 1948) by presenting mediation activities and special concerts. AKOUSMA had organized Musique Concrète Days as a prelude to the festival, but now we are ready for the main event. The opening night features work by composers Francis Dhomont, Mourad Bncr, Guillaume Côté, Roxanne Lacasse, Rocío Cano Valiño, and Sarah Belle Reid. Night 2 features Diego Bermudez Chamberland, Nicola Ratti, Tomoko Sauvage, Pierre-Luc Sénécal, Marja Ahti, and Devon Hansen. And the final evening includes Nicola Giannini, Bénédicte, Elias Merino, Evan Magoni / Gonima, Olivia Block, and Aho Ssan.
